While not terribly interesting to me, they're neither particularly annoying nor so prevalent that they frequently clutter the board. If cute pet posts got to the point of a half dozen or more TLPs a day I'd be in favour of it just to make it easier to scan the board for interesting TLPs. On a slow day like today it's just a boredom breaker when doing routine work. The ordnance corner makes sense because some people are quite opposed to such things, and the W:ET corner allows the gamers to communicate without cluttering the board with repeated requests for players. In this sense, they serve a purpose. The saving grace of the cuteness posts is that the TLPs usually clearly identify them as such, probably because those who post them usually understand how the board works.
