I assume most people who burn flags do so as a symbolic gesture. I could even understand it if people peed on a memorial to make a point, but in this case it just seems like a bunch of frat-boys out to deface public property. They weren't out to make a point, even a casual one, unless you count "I'm a drunken vandal and I think that's funny" as some kind of symbolic gesture.
