There was a spelling mistake in one of the field names. It had been there for several months. Much code was written. One day, the DBA renamed the field, correcting his original typo. After I explained the problem, he started suggesting more structural changes to the DB. I interrupted him mid-sentence with: "You're fixing the code the next time you perform an unrequested change". Later I was told that getting a correction to the database normally involved an hour-long phone conversation. I think I may have scared him. :-)
