| (and I just found this out, myself). Project Management is a whole other pay scale (and way bigger) than writing. And I've been known to do PM as well as writing, too. But my new "boss" told me that PM duties are billable at an even higher rate than the astronomical one he's paying me for writing. One advantage of working with an old colleague and friend - he doesn't hide these little tidbits from you like everyone else seems to do.
I would double or triple my rate and tell them that's what it would take for you to renew next month (if in fact you would even consider it at that rate). I had that weekly status thing, too, with 2 different managers (out of the 4 that were supervisory), but I stopped turing in formal emailed status because we started having weekly status meetings.
I hope you find something so you can quit gracefully. I was where you are just days ago. And of course, my boss was OK with it until the very last day, when she finally started asking me "you sure you can't stay??" Sigh. |
