IIRC, sound was one of the things that has never been a problem with the different versions that I have tried. All kids of sound support is there, but I don't have experience with games. Be prepared to update your install with a large ammount of upgraded packages. Also, FWIW, there are specific settings within ALSA to allow sound from two apps at the same time, based on the audio chip.
