I work for a predominant consumer marketing company. While we don't use spam, many of our CPA affiliates do. And why wouldn't they? Our product landing pages turn an average of 30-40% conversion. Email is a super-cheap method of communication, you just have to afford the systems to mask your origin. Given that, if a spammer sends out 1M emails, the click through rate might be anyware between .5% to 8% depending on the message construction.
That's between 5,000 and 80,000 click-through. At the aforementioned conversion rates, that's roughly 1,500 to 32,000 sales. Average ticket on our items is about $150. Depending on the CPA offer, the spammer could be making 10-25% of the sale.
Now imagine a spammer sending out 1,000,000 messages each week. Or each day.
Profitable? Absolutely! |
