we have the expectation that UFies are reasonably smart and on average have a good grasp of the English language, and on the other hand, I apparently need to write down to them. So which is it?

The problem here has never been with my communication; it has instead been with the interpretations others derive from it. Might communicating with me require more thought than the usual political extremism and continual repetition of talking points that passes for discussion around here? Yes. Does that make my voice wrong? No. Thought is the origin of intelligent discussion, and if someone is not willing to ascribe that in their conversation, then how can they claim to be participating intelligently?

By the way, I didn't post the link to the article --- I merely responded to Kickstart's prejudiced claims of bias in his post containing the link.
