| If the reader does not understand, it is their responsibility to ask or look for clarification, not attack the writer based upon their own wrongly-informed ideas as to the writer's intent.
How is the reader supposed to know they don't understand the writer's intent? If Writer X writes something seen as inflammatory, how is Reader Y supposed to think "Oh, I must not understand that, so instead of being offended I'll contact Writer X and ask what he or she really meant by it."
The fact is, YOU wrote what you did and YOU have to wear the results of that. The fault did not lie at the feet of those who responded to you.
At this stage I think you really just need to own up that the responsibility of that flare-up was entirely yours. That and consider why it is you get offended as easily as you do -- if you continue in that vein I doubt you'll last much longer on the forum. |
