On one hand, there are reasons I communicate as I do, often specifically because of meanings those obscure usages communicate that common language does not. That does contribute to the confusion.
On the other hand, the responsibility cannot be laid at my feet when people make outright assumptions and work off of those, letting those assumptions inform their arguments, even when explained otherwise (as happened just before I left the original thread, when I made a point specifically stating that I was relating to the definition fitzso had posted, and NemoHac attacked me on the basis of his assumption as to the meaning). Ultimately, despite any confusion, blame cannot be laid at my feet for assumptions others make.
The writer's job is to communicate their ideas. If the reader does not understand, it is their responsibility to ask or look for clarification, not attack the writer based upon their own wrongly-informed ideas as to the writer's intent. |
