I am one of those people who believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman. I don't mean any offense against anyone, it's just a belief.
That being said, however, I was disappointed when I heard about the first gay divorce. I was hoping that a group who is fighting so hard for this type of equality (mind you, I'm speaking in general terms here) might humble us heterosexuals by showing us what it means to cherish a blessed union with an SO. I was hoping that if gay divorces were few and far between, that it might wake people up and throw our criticisms back in our faces by showing us that those whom we criticized have cherished marriage more than we have.
Those of you out there who are fighting for the right to marry, if you find success in your fight, and you find strength in your commitment to your partner and you faithfully stand by each other's side . . . you have my respect, despite my beliefs (for whatever that may be worth to you). |
