Well, here I am in the land of dial-up. by chuckab 2006-06-22 13:28:58
Sometimes being the "good son" sure is tiring - for both me and my SO.

AND ... I logged into wr0k to check things and I can't get to my machine because some other machine is trying to use *MY* IP address. Then, when I called to see what was wrong, I found out that the network control folks had pushed an AD Policy that messed up my custom rights that locked out my folks from two shared printers. I was able to fix one remotely (ran out of time to fix the other one). Now I have to fix rights so they can get back to their desktops from the central scanning machines (I have two Ricoh IS330DC scanners that are attached to two shared computers).

And before you ask, I can't have them storing the scans on the network. The network control folks only allow 400 people 29.5GB of shared network storage. That space is typically at 98% used most of the time (no individual quotas). ... AND they don't want individual sections setting up their own file servers because file servers are "their business" - not ours. We're the clients, we're not supposed to manage servers.

Oops - this is turning into a rant. I'd better quit.

All in all, it's been a good trip with many boxes packed and much stuff disposed of. The SO is in the garage with my mother and the next door neighbor getting set up for the garage/moving sale tomorrow. That'll be more stuff gone. \o/

Well, until next time....
