For: The poor thing is struggling to get even the most basic tasks done. It is old, no longer supported and prone to viruses. It's quality of life is just not what it used to be.
Against: With retraining a more suitable role for it could be found. e.g. with a little TLC and some work it would make a fine Linux print server or firewall.
Method: ESD can be a very slow way to go. Physical abuse is a little too harsh. For that reason I would recommend mounting it vertically and then the liberal use of a de-soldering hot air gun. For more drastic cases drop it into a wave soldering fixture.
