and live on, and then make the pitch to the current folks.
Tell them the truth, that you're tired of being side-lined, and that mostly you just want some respect for the skills you have and use for their benefit.
Also tell them that you will not be coming back if they can't come up with it, you've already got other offers where you -do- expect to be appreciated.
If you mention that it isn't about money, and it won't cost them any more to keep you around, they will either listen and give you what you ask for (if they;re even reasonably intelligent) or they'll blink and you'll know it's time to move on.
Let them stew for a bit, and then if they don't quit messing with you, let them know you're leaving and exactly why (they didn't listen when you told them you weren't going to be a second-class nobody for them any longer). |
