Mainframe version, though. Mark IV database, they are dropping the support contract this coming year, and the price to continue support on a newer version is astronomically outrageous.

Of course ALL of the student information systems are written against this behemoth, and they used non-compatible and non-transportable proprietary ka-ka when they wrote those apps...

The "conversion" to Oracle has been going on for over a decade, has cost almost thirty times as much as was estimated, it still doesn't work, and it never will.

There is a whole new "conversion" project in the works, and the poor sod who took the head job for that didn't know that he was being set up as a scapegoat for when it fails - and it WILL fail, you can bet on it. Poor Scott; he's not a bad guy at all, he's just being set up....

There is no way they can convert all of the carp in that old mainframe to client-server and web-based secure applications before the deadline take-down-date for the mainframe and the old Mark IV app.
