If you think automatic transmissions... by RetiQlum22006-06-17 18:18:48
As in, the time it takes to accelerate. by fudje 2006-06-17 18:42:23
I've never had one not change gears at a stupid time. Have you?
I've never come off the lights slower than one. Even a 2004 Jag.
I have, however, observed automatics transmissions change up a gear halfway up a hill at *just* the right point to cause a total loss of torque. I've observed them flitting between gears so as to provide the maximum consumption of petroleum. I've had them wig out on me halfway around a corner (that was an old Volvo however. Still vary scary to suddenly have no grip because the gearbox is in limboland. Wait, no, I've had a 2000 model Camry do it as well, but I wasn't driving that).

I do most of the servicing on my own cars. I live with petrolheads. I drink with petrolheads.
I don't drink petrol, that would be silly.
I know why I can't put ethonal-enriched fuel in my car, and how to remedy this. Unfortunately, it involves overhauling the entire engine management system.
I should really getting to swapping the new clutch in (the old one's not gonna make it quite to 300,000km. Why has this clutch not been replaced yet? I don't know, I've only had the car for about 2,500km).
