Just watching "What Dreams May Come" by Qcumber-some 2006-06-17 13:12:47
well, in German it's "Hinter dem Horizont" (transl. "Behind The Horizon" - don't ask about that name...). First time I have seen it, well, must have been about 1998 with my last real girlfriend (talking about the movie, I can say we were not soul companions).
Back then I can remember grumping about a damn trash story, with too many Christian themes, squeezing the story of Love until there's nothing left in it, and a shame that Robin Williams did this movie, and that he saved the movie at all from being annoying.
I have seen this movie about ten times since then.
Today I have to state... this is one of the best Robin Williams movies I know (and I know quite many!) He's absolutely brilliant, the other actors fit perfectly (especially Max von Sydow who I really like in this kind of role he plays there) and the story, now knowing many of the little hints, signs, images, is not overboarded with Christian mythology, it's quite little even. Many of the Christian themes I've seen back then, are more general or even universal.
