paid. It's called 'overhead'.

If you are an employee, you simply put a few numbers from your T4 into the appropriate boxes on the tax form they sent you - so little time is spent that it really doesn't matter. Consider it absorbed into your refund.

There is almost always a refund. Don't ask how they do that - I think it is a conspiracy between the government and the employers.
