I have heard of that elsewhere. Re the spending issues. It's never been an issue with me with SAD... but apprently is with people with Bi Polar as they don't realize. They get hyper and a bit ADHD like by the descriptions I've seen in other spots when they are in a mania stage. Poor impulse control, hyper, limited attention span, etc. In the down state part of it I think depends on their personality but most have realized they need to reach out and total withdrawl isn't healthy or wise. In some cases they have rapid mood flipping like some of us with SAD in the very begining of shift from winter to summer or fall to winter. But I think that happens more in extream cases where they haven't any treatment or diagnosis. I think they either drive themselves nuts or their family and eventually get help after getting like that. *shrug*
