Worse then Raspberries; when you consider just the problems of trying to remove them (especially on a steap slope) with thier sharp thorns, the way they grow in a tangled mass and the deep roots I can understand Anonymous Freak's moanings.

A defoliant may work but this is a pestulance that seems to be able to return if all *visible* parts of it have been removed. I think the best action would be to get a big backhoe in there and reshape the landscape.

That said, blackberries are wonderfull as a berry.
