employing the contractors ...

Did the contractors choose their own working hours ?
Did the contractor "choose" to accept the next project when the first was finished, or could he be -somehow- forced into accepting it ? In that case, the client becomes "the boss", and WILL be pursued for fraud. Fraud in BE gives the tax administration the right to g "at least" five years back, social services will folow up. Justice dept will come as well.

So Myke, are YOU aware that they "conned you" into some form of dependant state ? Did they forbid you to work for others? Did they pay you "a fixed salary and over time" instead of YOUR bill-by-the-hour ? Did THEY choose to give you a day off, when you wanted to finish that project 5 ?

But when they were "normal and good clients, with whom you kept a normal professional relationship, tax services won't find anything. And re-defining you as an "employee" AFTER the facts, can only be seen as a dumb move for any business. I don't think they 'll try that.
