Our site was a SATCOM place too, with something like 15 heads of various types, ranging from little 3m L-Band things, to 15m X-band military and a 25m UHF dish. We did both commercial and military work: commercial included location of unauthorised users/interferers and post-launch testing, and we carried live military traffic. When the site was being built the local electric company offered to put in a dedicated line from the nearest distribution site about ten miles away, but the cheap MoD decided not to pay. Instead we were on the end of a damp piece of string after all the local farms with their not-too-carefully maintained equipment. The UPS got a fair bit of use.
