I posted about the Tactics mod a couple days ago and tried it out on a test server the author setup. First the good parts: Not having to aim is kind of neat. You can hit things just by pulling the trigger and facing roughly on target. You shoot your teammates less, even when they're in the crosshairs. You can throw the knife, way cool. Now the bad parts. I can't tell how this would work for the UFie server because the test server has too many bots (26). They can see much better at a distance than human players. I had to find close quarters just to get a feel for the aiming behavior. Sniper fans will hate it. You hit based on XP, distance, and weapon type alone. (It was hard to research this. The bots work on line of sight. They never wonder where you are.) I still feel positive that UFies would have fun playing this version but we'll need to run our own box. A tactical version of the UFie7 campaign would probably work. The server restarts after campaigns so I'm guessing that's when we could switch mods from etpro to tactical. BTW, how's that new server coming?
