WHAT is UPS *smoking*? by sofaspud2006-03-30 22:00:25
I used to live in Spokane... by shadowsystems 2006-03-31 00:50:38
This was MANY years ago, so things may have changed since then, but your major sorting/routing office for the USPS is in Seattle (the airport hub) where it gets shipped first, sorted, and then continues on to Spokane...

Kinda like here in Sacramento CA where I live. There's a post office less than 1.5 miles from my house, but someone sending me a package from the other end of town wondered why it took longer to get to me (5 days) than it took for a similar package to get to her uncle in Germany (3 days).
Turns out the major sorting/routing office is in yet another part of town, so the package went from the post office nearest her, to the sorting/routing office a point halfway-between-but-above us, then to my local office, and from there to me.

Screwed is such a POLITE term...

Worse, if I get a package from UPS, FedEx, or DHL - Mather Air Port is a cargo hub and even closer to my home than the post office.
The idiots at FedEx regularly ship it to Sacramento International Airport, then from there to the Mather cargo hub, and then it gets put on a truck to be delivered to me.
It takes less time to DRIVE it from SacIntnl than it does to have it change planes, fly to Mather, unload, THEN sort, put it on a truck, and drive it the mile to my front door...
*Grrrr*

So I feel your pain... I stopped using the tracking systems for those FedEx/DHL/UPS & the USPS, simply because even though it SAYS it's in town, didn't mean *diddly* - it may still have a DAY to get to me from that point, simply because someone hasn't figured out to just send it to the local hub IN THE FIRST PLACE.... PPPLLLBbbbbb... hehehe
