fit(SSLR) The Iranian Governement is still very much in the grips of the Mullahs and IIRC it is alleged that the President is one of those who participated in the take over of the US Embassy in the 70s. They are behaving in a very typical Middle Eastern fashion and in my understanding of the culture there (granted I learned about it more than 20 years ago) is that it will take a good punch to the face (symbolically) before they are willing to listen to Western demands.
