However, the way US politics are set up, you get a lot more money crying "woe is me!" rather than doing what you can to help yourself out of the situation. Wring your hands and you get lots of pork and maybe a cushy job on a government panel "investigating the problem." Try to do something about the core problems, ask the hard questions, and you'll get rode out of town on a rail. And there are plenty of corrupt "politicians of color" who get more of a pass from their constituents because they're the same color. In short, it's not all Whitey's fault, and such claims should be taken with a few grains of salt. I refuse guilt trips from people who think the government owes them a living.
