Seriously though be VERY careful with #1, as installing over the old version is usually prone to errors you've never considered before.

My personal recommendation would be to do something like option 3, where you blow away the machine. If needed pop the drive into another computer (friends machine if you don't have a "spare") to do a data backup, and then blast it. You don't even need DOS just format the partition during the installer from W2k.

I've also been hesitant, but had decent results, with things like option 2. It SILL uses stuff on C:\ so you can have some odd problems later in life if you "clean" that partition out incorrectly or just format it.
