... fashion won't change much within our lifetimes.
I was wearing T-shirts and jeans ten years ago. I'm wearing a T-shirt and jeans (actually, denim shorts) now. I'll probably be wearing T-shirts and jeans when I'm 80.
More formal fashions haven't changed much in the past century, either. The basic business suit has been effectively unchanged for centuries, and will effectively be unchanged for at least as long.
Women, however, have to deal with fashion that changes at least twice a year.
For the past few years, I've gotten by with:
- Two or three pairs of jeans
- Two or three pairs of khakis
- A pile of T-shirts (they're cheap/free)
- One good "business" shirt
- One pair of leather shoes
- One pair of sneakers
- Miscellaneous undergarments (undershirts, underpants, socks)
My girlfriend, however, has more clothes than I can even comprehend. I've never had to stop wearing anything due to changing fashion (though my mom has given me some pretty godawful clothing as gifts), but I'm certain she has. |
