Been in much worse actually. I was broker, dumber, fatter and drunker than you could be if you tried. Law school? Heck, it took 11 years for my Bachelors degree. But it's not a contest. :) Have you looked into HSAs (Health Savings Accounts)? I understand that they are cheaper than traditional health plans. You need to be in good health and I'm not sure if there is a weight qualification. You are young so you should lack the serious, expensive problems that hit an old guy like me. Have you looked into doing work with public defenders? My friend took some of those cases when she was between jobs. The money stinks and the clients are worse, but something is better than nothing and you get experience. It is always easier to find a better job when you have one. It also can get you exposure to other firms and opportunities to network. Are your loans consolidated? Sometimes you can get an additional defferal of payments until you find a job. Citibank mentioned it when I consolodated, but I was already working. I have a buddy who works (or worked) for Sony legal in LA. I'll try to dig up his email and see if he has any ideas.
