You can take the bar exam in any state. A judge can also choose to recognize you on a case by case basis if you passed the bar in another state.

So she could find a job in any state, work with other lawyers and learn the ropes while preparing for the local bar.

I have a friend who did a similar thing. She passed the bar in Illinois. She got married and her new husband got transferred to North Carolina. She moved with him. She worked as a property lawyer (with only one disaster in a criminal case) and passed the bar there as well. Four years and a new baby latter, he's transferred to Minnesota. They move and she does legal work without taking a third bar. If she ever decides she wants to go back inside a courtroom again (which she hates doing), she'll pass a third bar.
