I have been on stage many times doing performances other than plays and the applause from the audience indicating that you did something good is incredibly intoxicating. I think the most memorable performance (other than Pirates) was aboard one of Carnival Cruise Line's ships when they had a amateur "contest". I chose an old standard (Moon River) and ... it was well received. In fact, I remember a bit of a suprised look from the MC when I handed the microphone back.
