Informal survey: what plays have you been in? by SnappingTurtle2006-03-24 10:36:27

Hmph.

I can only think of 4:
  • One in grade school (The Mikado) was so long ago that I don't remember what part I played.
  • One in high (secondary) school. Don't remember the name, all I remember was that it was a western and my sole purpose was to catch a 'shot' lady and drag her off stage.
  • One in college (Amahl and the Night Visitors). I was one of the three kings. I was asked at the last minute (actually about 2 weeks out) to take the part because the original cast member couldn't do it for some reason. Wasn't too bad, but I remember one solo part where I completely forgot a phrase and just did "waaa-baaa-waaa-..." until my mind caught up.
  • And the last production I was in was at the Turkish-American Association theater in Ankara, Turkey where I played Frederick in The Pirates of Penzance. I had never sung a tenor part before. I hit that high B-flat a total of 3 times - once in practice and in 2 of the 4 performances. I might have hit it more, but I was fighting a sore throat the entire run. I still have a recording of that performance on cassette tape that's 30 years old now....
And your purpose for asking?
