The Wells Fargo Wagon you silly!

The kids had the insterments for sveeral weeks, but were not supposed to play them as they were learning the 'think method.'
At a guess the insterments came with some rudimentery instruction books, and the kids were 'cheating' and practicing on the sly. The 'bad kid' probably gathered them together once he saw Hill about to be arrested.

(They are playing the waltz they were practicing initiall, and playing it badly. The professional play of 76 trombones appears to be either a future scene, or a dream sequence to finish the movie with some flash.)
