But, if you do the withholding or social security taxes wrong it leaves you open to liability concerns, and Boss doesn't want to futz with it, and so he has it done at a local accountant/payroll services place for the convenience. That they are also a client referral source has something to do with it. They would set up direct deposit, but they charge an initial fee and a small ongoing per employee fee. Boss is shop-at-Aldi cheap, and won't "waste" the money. He also dislikes direct deposit out of personal taste, and while the secretary would go either way, she's not going to fight for it. |
