    That's why I use... by mpicklesimer1 2006-03-24 06:27:36
Netscape 8.1! It has both firefox and IE rendering engines. It's set by default to use FF. However, certain sites like Google Video and most pages that use flash don't work, so I switch my preferences for that site to use IE and Netscape keeps track of it. The next I open Netscape, it'll default back to FF, but when I go to Google Video it'll automatically switch over to IE, then back to FF when I leave to check my email. Also, I have seen a FF install get totally screwed in about 5 minutes flat by my friend's teenage daughter. She has used Netscape on my laptop several times while logged in as Admin and not so much as a popup! Another point that was added with the .1 bump was an integrated "Security Center" type thing that includes spyware scanner, site certificate verification and an online blacklist to keep the grues out.

Now, before I get flamed: I know how some people feel about Netscape from previous versions, and I used to feel the same way. I design websites in my spare time, so I downloaded Netscape and Opera for my windows box and a couple for my mac to test browser compatibility. I must say, as much as I used to hate Netscape v<8.0, this one is now set as default.

Or you can install FF with the IE tab extension. ( (n/t) by AndyA2006-03-24 08:49:57
