I run a 2.4 GHz P4, 1 gig of RDRAM and a 64MB GeForce 3 Ti 500. Not exactly top of the line, and I've never had a problem loading anything. Granted, compared to HL1, it takes quite a bit longer.....but you have to think of how many textures and everything it's precaching.
If you are having a hard time, check to make sure your realtime scanning programs (antivirus, antispyware, etc) aren't holding things up. If you have 2 or 3 different antispyware and an antivirus, they are all scanning each file as it's accessed, over and over. |
