The downside to Apple's Software Update by niwikki 2006-01-24 18:03:21
I don't have an iPod. I don't know whether I ever will.

A couple weeks back, Apple released an update to their iPod software, and ever since my computer has been prompting me to download and install it. I have my computer set to check for updates automatically every week. Periodically I also manually check for updates.

I finally got fed up and decided to download the update so it would stop telling me to (there's no option to ignore that particular offering. It's either download or don't download; and if you don't download it, it comes up again the next time you check for updates). The file it's downloading now is a bit over 27MB. ... so 27MB of my drive is going to be used up by updating software for hardware I don't own and may never own.

... sigh.
