How do we keep the memory of the Holocost surviors by Garrinka 2006-01-24 17:42:47
alive? Intellictual discussion only. I know that this is a hot button topic (people will say then why talk about it?) I do not mean to offend anyone. But,I believe this needs to be addressed. We are loosing the WWII era people everyday. I have talked to my son about this he has no notion of what happened then. My husband and my mother-in-law went to visit Auschwitz no offense to our German friends, but my husband said it felt like a park. (And I understand that you could not leave it in its orginal state. That would be too much.) There has been a rise in the number of people who believe that it never happened. That it's all Jewish propaganda. I am scarred for our future we have seen that this can be repeated again, Rawanda is an example. Without the actual surviors to verify these claims what are we to do? I am sorry just the slow loss of my elder relatives who where around during this time has brought it to light. Both of my grandfathers served in WWII one in the Phillipeens and one in Germany (on the US side). I know that there have been steps have been made memorials, taking down peoples stories, but for some w/o physical proof its all hogwash. Sorry about the sour note, but I was wondering what some of you with kids are going to say about it. FYI I DO NOT wish to offend the German ufies. I am part german myself. I just wish I knew what I could do.
