| Even more stuff other than this has happened.
I started having trouble connecting to the Internet earlier but didn't worry about it then as my roommate and I were heading out to the Recreation Center to get some exercise. While I was out I bought some floppies from the university bookstore so I could save my history and bookmarks as due to mobo problems I've been using a Knoppix Live CD. Normally if I needed to reboot for some reason I'd back up the files to my school's share drive via FTP but I couldn't since I couldn't connect to anything.
On the way back from the rec center I wasn't paying enough attention and slammed my shin into a steel fork-lift thingy that mounts to a bulldozer scoop. That hurt.
I got back to my room and still couldn't get to any sites even if I used their IP address so I rebooted. I still couldn't get online so I called the Help Desk to see if there were any network troubles in my building and was told there wasn't any they knew of.
My roommate's laptop has a messed up Windows install making it unable to connect to the network so I booted it with my Knoppix disc to see if the problem was the network or my computer. I got online there so I shut down and as his network cord is long I stretched it across the room to my machine and booted with Knoppix again.
That's where I'm at now, I'm online using my roommate's network port. It seems my port is having problems. Later on I'll try it again just in case it is some temporary problem. Anybody know if it is possible to switch network lines without rebooting Knoppix?
At least it seems eLearning is back up so I can get back to working on my lesson.
