Quoting stastics is a pet peeve with me. There are adverts here in the public transit system that say "The average age of child prostitution in $CITY is 15.6 years old." So at what age are they no longer children? 16, 18, 20? The raw numbers are designed to play on an emotional level, and provides no useful information.
as you said, there is no investigation as to what other factors are involved. It's like saying that marajuana is a gateway drug, because people who use crack, heroin etc start with weed. Using that logic we should also ban cigarettes, and alcohol as they lead to dope smoking. Oh I have an Idea, Lets outlaw pregnancy as it leads to a higher rate of juvenial delinquency and vendelism of our communities.
