but it still doesn't eliminate the "now I can drink" effect, as drinking in a pub with friends is quite a bit different than hoisting a glass at home with the parental units. The first time I got drunk was in the basement with my brother's friends. It saved me the experience of learning about it in public, which is something I see rather too often around September when the first year university types start partying.
