to prevent kids from playing games...
that is the most stupid thing Ive ever heard of! My brother spent a month making a flash website for the school play, only to find out that it wont work on any of the computers at school...
The school could block the game websites, monitor which websites are visited and ban those that have games on them etc. but instead they waste a month of my brothers had efforts to make a webpage for their play. and this is a PRIVATE school, not a public one, we (finally) got new computers this year, and then they dont even put the correct software on it.
also, our sys admin is so strange, last year, there was an... incidednt in which about 50 computers on the network were borught down cos some kid ran an infinite net send loop to all the users in the workgroup (one workgroup, all users), The admin said "yeah, well disable netsend", and, has he? NO
he just tramps around, doesnt show up to work when the network is down.. etc
The librarians are even worse! If you check your email to download schome schoolwork to print it, you get kicked out. if there are more than 4 people to a table, or if you share a computer with another person because youa re working on a project, you kicked out. also, if you talk to oudly, they get annoyed. however, they have this machine which makes a REALLY LOUD "BEEP!!!" when they scan a book, one of the maximum 2000 books they have.
They said "yeah, we plan to update some of the sections", and have they? no, the music section is and remains all about classical music, orchestras and the such. The computer section is amde up of 5 "self help to the internet" guides, one HTML 4 book, and an antiquated C++ book, which is actually C!
ugh, thats finally off my head....
