SO was in a bad state some years ago. It took two years to get symptoms recognized and begin treatment. After about a year of this, there was significant improvement. OK, some of you might accuse me of being heartless and cruel for this next bit but really, it was OK. At that point humour was a part of healing for him and our relationship. As a gift to mark the passage, I gave him a bag of marbles. We both laughed and cried for awhile.
