...and keep them somewhere outside the house, if possible. Documenting your evidence certainly cannot hurt. (Personal opinion, IANAL). I don't see how you should feel like the "bad guy" here, and I don't think there's many people who would think what you think they'll think about you if you leave, but we're here for ya. :/ Hope things get better.
