I agree with Hadji about the no mercy bit.
The thing is, I don't quite know what to do. On the one hand, he did something lethally stupid when he had been warned not to. On the other hand, he seems quite intelligent otherwise, so I think he has already learned from his mistake. The question is, what part of a prison stint is for punishment, and what part is for making sure you don't do it again? And what about punishing somebody who had no bad intent?
