When you see most of someone's body jump three to six inches off a table, that ain't no small zap. And he obviously crossed her heart with the shock. And those things would obviously be designed with a current operating at a frequency (or cycle?) that matches or is close to the heart's. I've heard from martial artists that even hitting two pressure points that cross someone's heart could be fatal.
