I think I may cry by Master_Rahl222006-01-24 07:48:18
I feel your pain... by Sharku 2006-01-24 08:10:38
...I just finished a semester of "Datacommunications & Networking", taught by a shall we say less than knowledgable teacher. A few of his more poignant mistakes:
  • "A NIC stores protocols (TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, whatever) on an (E)EPROM onboard the card, OS and host system have nothing to do with it."
  • <while talking about a change in amplitude> "...and here we clearly see the frequency changing...".
  • ...
I just stopped going after a few lessons of that, and took the exam last week, which was 50 questions of multiple choice the likes of:
For a laser transmission system to work the transmitter and receiver have to be:
  1. Within line of sight of each other.
  2. Not within line of sight of each other.
  3. Something else.
The exam took me all of 10 minutes to complete. I'm supposed to take Operating Systems (mostly linux, which I've been using for nearly 6 years now) next semester which is taught by the same guy... *shudder*
