Will your brother prefer to have tempo set to the exact SAME number of
beats per minute, in a repeatable/reliable manner?

If so, then button presses will let him have a more accurate way to reach the same
tempo as last time... especially if there is a digital display of
the tempo.

It may take longer to press the buttons and select a tempo, but using a twist
style pot to reach the tempo may not be able to reach an exact tempo so easily.
(besides, after a few years, the pot can get flakey and give oddball tempos)


for those reasons... I would suggest you buy one.
