My local place, you just bring in any computer and they'll fix most problems, only charging for parts. (Obviously if you've FUBARed the software to the point where you need to reinstall the OS, that might cost you) ...but you're a geek, you're supposed to be able to troubleshoot the OS yourself.
I know you don't want to be called on for tech support, but you *will*, whether you like it or not, no matter who you buy the computer from.
I also highly doubt you'll get quality tech support from any big-brand company either, they tend to outsource to the lowest bidder, so you get people who know far less than you, just reading from a script. |
