Well... it *was* working... by niwikki2005-12-19 14:56:32
feh. STILL doesn't work. (Mac to PC Networking) by niwikki 2005-12-19 19:14:12
I shut off all the sharing, I disconnected everything that was networked, I restarted both computers.

Then I turned the sharing back on on the mac, and mapped the network drive on the PC, then tried to add the network printers... but the workgroup wasn't showing up. Which is odd because the workgroup from my old job is still showing up, even though there's no way I have access to it from here... but that's another matter (unless somehow that's affecting me here). Heck, this morning my workgroup was showing up, I don't know why it isn't anymore.

Anyway, after getting the network set back up again, I restarted BOTH computers again. Then I double checked the settings, made sure that my network connection was logged in (as I found once a while back that if I don't log it in to map the network drive before trying to print something, it won't even attempt to log me in to print, it'll just reject it... and that was back when it was working a few days back).

Then I tried printing. The job spooled and hit the networked printer status window... and stayed there with no "Status" listing. And then it disappeared when I doubleclicked on the printer's icon.

At least that's how the Epson reacts.

The Lexmark, on the other hand, gives a Printer Error the very moment it's trying to spool... says "Printing failed when starting the document."

Considering the Lexmark prints just fine from the Mac, and used to print just fine from the laptop (i.e. when it was connected direct rather than through the network), I'm still convinced that this is a network problem.

I've triple checked the drivers too... so I can't think of what else to try. Anyone?
