On the new gallery website, the standard thumbnail sizes are 640 across and 1024 across (they're easy to change, but that's a start). My D-SLR normally makes 1.5Mb 6MP files - normally 3008x2000 - so I was going to take that as a ballpark maximum, but I was intending to expect files on average to be half that size (maybe 1800 across).
